Lebanon Just Foiled Another Syrian Trafficking Attempt

A ship carrying Syrian families traversed Lebanese territorial waters, ultimately docking near the port of Mina in Tripoli.

Passengers made the daring decision to leap into the water and swim ashore.

Reports indicate that the boat, originally bound for Cyprus days prior, faced refusal from Cypriot authorities and was rerouted to Lebanon.

A widely circulated video on social media shows the scene as the ship, carrying Syrian nationals, including children, approached the coast near Tripoli’s port.

The sigh of passengers plunging into the water and making their way toward land drew attention and concern from viewers worldwide.

The individuals aboard the ship stated that they had gone without food since their departure, among them were infants and young children.
