Lebanon’s Minister of Tradition, Choose Mohammad Wissam Mortada, has efficiently facilitated the restoration of a big archaeological piece, “Head found within the Ashmun web site” (1966), from an public sale in Munich, Germany.
This motion was taken following a directive to Ambassador Mustafa Adib. The artifact, a part of Lebanon’s archaeological stock, was stolen in 1981 from Jbeil depots.
Ambassador Adib’s swift coordination with German authorities ensured the artifact’s authorized withdrawal from the public sale, paving the best way for its return to Lebanon.
It’s value noting that The Temple of Eshmun, revered in Arabic as معبد أشمون, stands as a testomony to historical Phoenician spirituality, devoted to the deity Eshmun, recognized for his therapeutic powers. This historic sanctuary is located near the Awali river, roughly 2 kilometres northeast of Sidon, within the southwestern area of Lebanon.
Spanning a interval from the seventh century BC by to the eighth century AD, the temple’s enduring presence close to Sidon highlights a longstanding and deep-seated connection between the spiritual web site and the town.
