Lebanon’s Niemeyer Visitor Home Gained The 2022 Aga Khan Award For Structure

The celebrated Aga Khan Award for Structure (AKAA) has introduced the checklist of winners for its 2022 version.

Established in 1977 by the Aga Khan, the award for Structure promotes new constructing ideas in communities with a Muslim presence.

Since its launch 45 years in the past, round 121 initiatives have obtained the AKAA award and 10,000 constructing initiatives have been documented.

The fifteenth Award Cycle acknowledged 6 winners in a number of fields, from up to date design to panorama design, from India, Iran, Lebanon, and Senegal, who will share the $1 million award.

Lebanon’s renovation of the Niemeyer Visitor Home in Tripoli has been chosen with 5 different initiatives, as a winner of the 2022 Aga Khan Award for Structure.

The agency behind the mission, East Structure Studio, based by Lebanese Charles Kettaneh and Nicolas Fayad, expressed that the award is “one of many largest in structure, and reveals promise for communities, innovation, and take care of the setting.”

Designed in 1962 by the Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer, the guesthouse was abandoned throughout Lebanon’s civil battle in 1975.

The positioning in Tripoli was named Rachid Karami Worldwide Truthful and added to UNESCO’s World Heritage checklist. Considered one of its 15 pavilions, the Niemeyer Visitor Home, was reworked right into a manufacturing facility to advertise town’s wooden business.
