A 1930 Railroad Map of Lebanon

City Planner & L’Orient LeJour Function Reporter Mohamed el Chamaa shared this wonderful historic map of rail hyperlinks in Lebanon (by way of Elena Haddad, The Chain Impact co-founder). As you’ll be able to see, the rails lined all of Lebanon and included a direct line to Damascus by way of Rayak. The final journey from Beirut to the Syrian border was again in 1976, in response to Assaad Namrud, who drove the practice on that line.

Sadly, the Lebanese authorities nonetheless don’t have any plans to make investments within the sector, or enhance public transport strategies as a complete.
