UN Appointed Imran Riza As Resident Coordinator For Lebanon

United Nations Secretary-Common António Guterres has introduced the appointment of Imran Riza of Pakistan as his Deputy Particular Coordinator and Resident Coordinator for Lebanon.

In an announcement, the UN mentioned that “Mr. Riza brings over 35 years of worldwide expertise throughout the United Nations System, primarily in area settings.”

He served in Syria as United Nations Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator for the previous three years.

Previous to this, he served in Lebanon as Deputy Head of Mission and Director of the Division of Political Affairs, Civil Affairs, and Strategic Communications of the United Nations Interim Power in Lebanon (UNIFIL).


Riza, who speaks English, French, and Urdu, holds a grasp’s diploma in Social-Cultural Anthropology from Johns Hopkins College and a bachelor’s diploma in Historical past and Political Science from McGill College.
